FAQs

WHAT TRIPS DO YOU OFFER?

We specialize in nighttime tarpon fly fishing charters in Miami. The trips are almost always in Biscayne Bay and nearby canals and waterways.

Yes! We can catch tarpon all year round. The peak time to do nighttime tarpon fishing in Miami is around the shrimp runs, with the primary run usually falling between December and March, and the secondary run falls in the summer, between June and August.

The most exciting fishing with the highest chance of hooking a tarpon does require specific tides. We will work with you on picking the best dates. But, if your schedule isn’t flexible and the tides don’t line up well, we’ll discuss options before booking.

Trip lengths will vary with the seasons, tides, and conditions. In the winter, we might get up to 5 hours, but in the peak of the summer, we might only get 3.5 to 4 hours.

No – my captain’s license covers everyone fishing on the boat.

Just yourself! In the winter, I do recommend bringing a sweatshirt or jacket. I will have a cooler with water on the boat. If you’d like to bring food or a snack, feel free. Beer is allowed, but responsible consumption is required.

You can, but it’s not necessary. We use only top quality equipment. If you have favorite rods or flies, you’re welcome to bring themPlease contact me in advance if you plan to bring your own gear so we can make sure we’re properly equipped.

Up to 2 people can go on the trip. Any more, and the boat is too crowded to safely fish.

We have a number of meeting stops convenient to Miami or Miami Beach.

If you’re staying at a waterfront house, condo, or hotel, we can often arrange a pickup right where you are!

We require a $100 deposit to reserve your trip. If you need to cancel, you may do so more than two weeks in advance for a refund, minus any fees charged by Venmo/Zelle/etc. Within two weeks, you can transfer your deposit to another day. Cancellation within two days will result in a forfeiture of your deposit. No-shows or last minute cancellations (an hour before scheduled departure) will result in a charge of the full price of the trip.

Trips cancelled due to weather (at the captain’s discretion) or mechanical issues will be fully refunded.

We strictly practice catch and release with tarpon and snook. If you do want to keep mangrove snapper, you’ll need to bring your own cooler, but contact me first to discuss to ensure it fits on the boat with enough space for anglers to safely move around.

Short answer, no. I don’t have a livewell on the boat and since I specialize in fly fishing,  I don’t have any tarpon-quality spinning gear. If you’d REALLY like to spin fish, and have your own gear, contact me so we can discuss options.

Yes, but for fun! I don’t guide for those species. I’d be happy to recommend another guide in the area that does.

No, I specialize in nighttime fishing only.
